Vaccines and Preventive Wellness

Vaccines and Preventive Wellness

We provide both core and optional vaccines for dogs and cats. The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends that all dogs receive canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and rabies vaccinations. Core vaccines for cats include feline distemper, feline calicivirus, feline herpes, and rabies. Puppies and kittens should receive their first set of vaccines by eight weeks of age. We also offer Bordetella and leptospirosis for dogs and feline leukemia for cats based on your pet’s risk and lifestyle factors.

We recommend annual wellness exams for adult dogs and cats between one and seven years old. Puppies, kittens, and senior pets should have more frequent examinations.

Spay and Neuter Surgery

Spay and Neuter Surgery

Spaying your female pet and neutering your male pet helps to control pet overpopulation. Unfortunately, millions of pets are euthanized every year because there are not enough homes for all of them. Additional benefits of sterilization include a longer lifespan, reduced risk of mammary gland and testicular cancer, no heat cycles or roaming behavior, and less aggressive behavior by both males and females.

Senior Pet Wellness

Senior Pet Wellness

Although the age at which dogs and cats are considered a senior can vary by breed, we like to start seeing pets for bi-annual exams around age seven. Like people, older pets have an increased risk of kidney disease, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, liver disease, senility, and general weakness. Staying on top of these issues helps improve the quality of life for your pet in the senior years. Mobility challenges and behavior changes are also more common with older pets.

How we care for your pets

Prevention is our starting point. We recommend annual wellness exams for most adult pets and more frequent visits for puppies, kittens, and seniors. Vaccines follow AAHA and AAFP guidelines, with lifestyle add-ons like Bordetella and leptospirosis for dogs and feline leukemia for cats when appropriate. Our in-house lab and digital x-ray deliver same-day insights, while ultrasound gives a closer look at the heart and abdominal organs. Laser therapy supports comfort and healing for conditions such as arthritis, back pain, ear inflammation, skin wounds, and more. From dental cleanings under anesthesia to surgery for mass removals, bladder stones, fractures, and knee repairs, your pet’s plan is explained step by step, including home recovery.

Testimonials

What our clients say...

I use JAH for my 4 fur babies and couldn’t be more sure of their great care. Service is great and we get reminders for upcoming needs to keep my babies healthy. Highly recommend JAH for all your pet health needs!

Donna

I had recently moved here from another state and did not have a local vet for my old girl, she had developed a pretty bad ear hematoma, my sister-in-law recommended JAH, they took amazing care of my dog. Not once was she scared or jittery sitting in the waiting room, and both the tech and the Dr. were gentle and kind while treating her.

Jasmine

We had an emergency with our newly adopted dog and they didn’t hesitate in working us into their busy day! Staff and Dr were so kind and knowledgeable, and obvious animal lovers! Our fur baby made a complete recovery and we will be bringing all of our pets to them from now on!

Michelle

I’ve been taking my fur babies here for decades. All the staff are loving and friendly. The prices are GREAT! The new building is wonderful.

They taught me more about doggy diabetes than my last vet. Nice people who made my dog feel loved!
